Bluebear's Historical Miniatures Wing

"Historical Miniatures" (or "little toy soldiers" as we affectionately call them) are a fascinating hobby. Using little painted figures on a tabletop with simulated "terrain" it is possible to "re-fight" history's great (and not-so great) battles.

"Armies" are painted and organized to look like their historical counterparts. Usually these figures are either 25mm (about 1") or 15mm (5/8") tall. Most of the time they are cast metal -- either out of pewter or a lead alloy; but sometimes they are made of plastic.

I'm currently involved in various different "periods" from Ancients to British Colonials; but my favorite time period is the first two thirds of the Eighteenth Century -- the "Tricorne" Era. This fascinating period starts with the joint conflicts of the Great Northern War (1700-1721) and the War of Spanish Succession (1701-1715) -- both wars often going on just a few hundred miles apart. Later in the century we get the War of Austrian Succession (1739-1748) and the Seven Years War (1756-1763).

GNW Swedes march towards a white-bearded Bluebear.

But Bluebear's Saxon Cavalry waits on the wings to greet the Swedes.
